Braving the Elements
Dartex was approached to supply fabrics for a new wetsuit concept for kayakers. The concept was to produce a light weight garment that provided protection from wind, wet and UV.
The resulting fabric provides a thermal barrier similar to a traditional wetsuit, but it is lighter, more flexible and is easier to get on and off.
The layered garment system has been endorsed by Surf Life Savers Assoc., the Royal Surf Life Saving Assoc.’ was highly commended by the British Federation of Plastics, won the “Winning by Design” competition, and was awarded Millennium Product status by the Design council of Great Britain.
