Their patented prison mattresses incorporate an integrated pillow and fully welded seamed seals meaning that inmates simply do not have a place in their mattress or pillow to hide anything. Despite this, the easy care and comfort of the Dartex fabric covered mattresses means that they have been used as a reward for good behaviour. In secure care circumstances though there is often concern that prisoners might try to hurt themselves; it is not unknown for them to rip a mattress cover to shreds to make a rope and hang themselves. To prevent this Dartex laminate a Dyneema scrim:
