Dartex Coatings were first approached to make a hospital mattress cover fabric back in 1981 and it soon became clear through an extended trial that Dartex out-performed its predecessors for reliability of waterproofness, flame retardance, and because of stretch and moisture vapour permeability, it was much more comfortable than PVC to lie on.
At that time Dartex knew they were on to a winner. It then took 12 years of persuasion, clinical trials, evolving development and hard work to achieve, what others perceived, as an overnight success in the healthcare support surface market. As the pioneer of transfer coated polyurethane for hospital mattress covers, we are now recognised worldwide as the market leader and it is our intention to remain so for the next 30 years as well.
