Breathable Membranes

In cleaner working environments where operational grime may not be a major concern, most workwear has textile outers. This looks like regular clothing but still incorporates wind and rain protection with the incorporation of a very highly breathable membrane transfer laminated to the inside of the garment.

Dartex laminates comply with the highest European requirement EN343, achieving class 3:3 for both waterproofness and breathability, equal to anything else on the market without the downside of noise or, where appropriate, loss of stretch. Keeping you protected from the elements in the highest possible comfort.

Breathable Membranes

• High Breathability

Dartex® highly breathable membranes are hydrophilic and achieve the highest levels of moisture vapour transmission. Hydrophilic membranes 'breathe' by physically transferring water molecules in the gaseous form (perspiration) across the polymer chain but remain an impermeable barrier to water droplets. Some other systems, are microporous, i.e. they operate with tiny holes that allow vapour to pass but not droplets, initially as highly breathable they suffer over time as dirt and detergent can block the small pores.

• Comfort

Comfort is enhanced by the combination of 4 factors: stretch (where applicable) for ease of movement; lightness (as there is no need for a third layer just to protect the membrane as with ptfe); quietness (as the fabric is not impregnated with the membrane) and of course high breathability.

• High Visibility

Dartex® can produce fabrics that comply with the High visibility requirements of ANSI 107 and BS EN 471, as referenced in BS EN 343 (workwear standard). These shades comply with the exacting colour co-ordinates and luminosity specifications for protective workwear.

• Waterproof

All fabrics produced by Dartex Coatings are guaranteed to have a resistance to water penetration in excess of 50kPa (7.24psi), and many have a resistance which is far greater than this. This level of waterproofness will be sufficient for even the most demanding protectivewear application.

• Flame Retardance

Dartex® fabrics can be manufactured to meet the exacting Fire Retardancy Standards (FR) of the protective wear market. By engineering the products with precise modifications, Dartex® has fabrics within the range that have been proven to meet many international standards.
